“One’s excitable taste buds may be inspired to dance a lively tango or flamenco when sampling the vivacious mixture of Latin, Mexican & South-western foods”—discoverourtown.com

"Rich dishes and elaborate wedding cakes like the one in Laura Esquivel's novel "Like Water for Chocolate", rarely cross the border...How nice, then, that the menu at Casa del Sol transcends the usual tacos and enchiladas in favor of more adventurous dishes...featuring Caribbean duck, Cuban chicken... [the] guacamole is first-rate...and a Spanish crème brûlée and banana chimichanga decked with walnuts, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream almost makes one forget old loves." --Fran Schumer, New York Times Restaurant Review

“This place has it all. Fun, food, people, location. I definitely would recommend it highly”

“Casa del Sol has been preparing and providing a fabulous Thanksgiving eve feast for the Haverstraw Center "family" for the past 10 years. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is always enticing and original, and everyone from the owners to the wait staff is warm and welcoming. Gina and Jorge Cambre have opened their hearts to make us part of
Casa's extended family, and we love them!”

“Amazing food, friendly service, Casa del Sol is THE PLACE to have your night out with your loved ones” – Taylor Chung

With a big role in a Broadway show, a recording contract with Sony BMG, and an affinity for sticky hair-products and big sunglasses, Nyack resident Pedro Capó is poised for Latin pop-stardom. But for the moment, you can still catch him with Rustico Acoustico (his percussion-heavy band, made up of local guys) at Casa del Sol, every couple of months (no cover; 104 Main St.; Nyack; 353-9846; pedrocapo.com).

“Dear Gina & Jorge, Thank you, thank you, thank you for providing such a wonderful party for Small Steps. Every person there raved about the party: the festive atmosphere, the delicious and wonderful food, and that everyone was able to really relax and mingle together.” – Lise & Nina

Maybe It’s The Margaritas!
Since opening in 1997, 16 couples have met & married,
including our very own Tom whose beautiful wife eye-spied him from across the bar.
And Kevin & Barbara, who never worked the same shift until the “beer flavored margarita” special created a sudden opening!

"Casa del Sol's festive atmosphere and mouth-watering menu make it the hottest spot on the Hudson. The cross-cultural dishes range from the American Southwest to Brazil and the Caribbean, with many delicious stops along the way."

"Best Latino, Best Margarita" --Journal News, 'Best of Rockland' 1998

Favorite Happy Hour: Casa del Sol, Nyack
WHY WE LOVE IT: There are plenty of bars in downtown Nyack for the after-work set, but we’re partial to Casa for three simple reasons. First, there’s the live music. On Friday and Saturday nights, the main dining room hosts a variety of bands—everything from salsa to funk. Second, you’ve got the margaritas, which include an eclectic array of flavors (mango, strawberry, banana). Third, there’s the crowd, which makes this laid-back Latin joint one of the most lively, raucous, and packed places in the village.
WHAT TO ORDER: The classic Mexican menu has all the dishes you’d expect (burritos, tacos) and a few you might not (BBQ shrimp quesadillas). If you’re feeling adventurous, try the paella or drunken chicken. When the live music begins at 10:30 p.m., order the guacamole, which is prepared tableside.

“Each member of our family has their own "favorite" at Casa del Sol. My wife loves their nachos with black beans, and my son can't get enough of the Napoleon Chicken. My own pick would be any of Jorge's specials…
we all crave the fried spinach- it's incredible!” – Stevie O, Nyack NY

Casa del Sol has proven a favorite among Nyack patrons since opening in 1997. As they approach their 10th Anniversary, owners Jorge and Gina Cambre continue to dish up exciting Latino cuisine and diverse entertainment-- all within the vibrant glow of their "indoor courtyard"… the couple created Casa with an eye toward fine food and drink served in a relaxed, eclectic setting where music, dancing and celebrations abound. And whether a table of friends and family in the dining room, the 'Friday Night Guys' at the bar, or the committed, friendly staff--the long-standing regulars who consider it “La Casa” are always on hand to pull in newcomers with passionate recommendations, tall tales and a ready laugh. –shopnyack.com
